I am Talieh Safadi, founder of Help Squad.

You might think Help Squad is just another handyman or property maintenance company, but that’s just part of our story. While we are known for our super-friendly and reliable handymen, we also have a hidden side. Technology.

Before I explain, here’s how I ended up starting Help Squad. I graduated from USC Cinema School and was soon living my childhood dream making and selling indie films in Hollywood. Life was good. When the indie film market collapsed, I lost everything. That was a painful and humbling experience.

To cheer me up, my family gave me a toolbox for Christmas. I didn’t know it at the time, but that toolbox changed my life. It wasn’t long before my handyman skills were being put to good use in the neighborhood. The rest, as they say, is history.

Fast-forward twelve years and Help Squad has a fleet of trucks with teams of handymen operating in Northern and Southern California. We don’t crowdsource or outsource, WE ARE IT!  You place the request; we get it done.

So, back to the hidden side. If you’re going to scale a property maintenance company statewide, you need back-end processes. Even before the pandemic, we had decided to take advantage of technology and build cloud systems for our remote sales and field service management teams.

Many companies opt to rent third-party software when building out their back-end. Help Squad saw things differently. After extensive research into the latest offerings, we took to the drawing board and mapped out a system to streamline every aspect of the business. We believe our hands-on and direct interaction in the field gives us an advantage in system design. Ambitious? Yes, we are, and it paid off handsomely.

Today, we run the business with our own “Salesforce-like” customer relationship management cloud platform. Everything is built with customer satisfaction in mind. At Help Squad, we believe it isn’t enough just to do a great job fixing your maintenance problems. We want your entire experience to be friendly and hassle-free.

Over the years, Help Squad has gained faithful clients, mostly by word of mouth. Today, we service homeowners’ associations, property management companies, residential homeowners and mom-and-pop landlords.

What started as a one-man handyman business with a gifted toolbox, turned into a unique service/technology hybrid company. And we’re not stopping there. Stay tuned in future blogs to learn about our new cloud platform for HOAs.
